The Man Next Door Knows: Candy Shorts Episode Guide

A borrowed light bulb and a known name

Amanda's husband phones to say a deal is dragging and he'll be away a few more days, assuming she'll be fine as ever. Then a new neighbor knocks: he's new next door and short on supplies, sugar and a working light bulb included. She jokes about lending him a bulb and lets him upstairs to use the bathroom.

The camera sticks with Amanda, so the neighbor is mostly a voice. Episode 1 stays in her bright suburban home, while episode 2 jumps to a bar downtown after dark, where her friend Sarah, short blonde hair, is waiting.

Two questions drive it: where he got her name, and how she will deal with a husband she cannot reach. Candy files it under Taboo, tagged mystery and romance.

Episode 1: A Light Bulb and a Name

The banter over borrowed supplies includes a quip about dignity: Dignity I can't help you with. Amanda leaves Sarah a voicemail, starts to mention the neighbor, calls it silly and proposes drinks. Next he asks if he can use her bathroom, and she directs him upstairs. At the upstairs mirror she adjusts her top, a voice asks if everything is all right, and she asks herself what she's doing.

When he leaves, he thanks her and says it is rare how she puts people at ease, and he calls her Amanda. She wants to know how he knows her name.

Episode 2: Red Satin and a Question

Wearing a red satin slip dress, Amanda finds Sarah waiting outside a bar after dark. Sarah wants to know how the neighbor learned her name. Amanda reports He said it was on the mailbox but senses he's hiding something, which Sarah finds thrilling. At the restroom mirror, Amanda tells Sarah she has never been unfaithful; Sarah says she should, since Amanda's husband has cheated for years and everyone knows.

Amanda remembers that someone told her the truth about him a while back. She never learned who, and she admired them for it. Sarah floats the idea that the neighbor could be that person, and Amanda asks what she means.

What happens after episode 2?

Two threads stay open: how much the neighbor knows, and what Amanda will do about a husband who cheats. The posters for later episodes hint at where this goes: Amanda in bed with bare shoulders, a close clinch with a dark-haired, shirtless man, and scenes on a beach at sunset, which suggests an affair that leaves the house behind. With 7 paid episodes to go, there is plenty of story left.

Who is in The Man Next Door Knows?

Amanda Langford is the wife at the center, and the camera rarely leaves her. Her husband is an unnamed voice on the phone. Sarah, the friend with the short blonde hair, is a voicemail in episode 1 and a presence at the bar in episode 2. The new neighbor is unnamed and mostly heard rather than seen in the free episodes. Candy lists Amanda as a character, with no twin credit.

Is The Man Next Door Knows porn?

Heat is slow to arrive. The free pair keeps to loungewear and a satin dress with a low neckline. Nobody touches, nobody kisses and nothing is bare.

The posters for later episodes hint at a change: Amanda in bed with bare shoulders, a shirtless man holding her close, and sunset scenes by the sea, suggesting intimate moments with partial nudity down the line. For the series-by-series picture, read how Candy Shorts rates its own content.
